fantastic tyre
I had the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder in 33 inch on my 1981 HJ47 cruiser ute. Originally I had Coopers. The short story is that after 18 months the Coopers were staked and financial circumstances saw me getting the Maxxis. Mind you where I live in Dalgety NSW very ruggard and rocky and I was using the 47 like a tractor. Spraying weeds, collecting firewood, spot lighting etc. No tracks here just bush fallen trees and rocks. At the time I only had the one vehicle and used it for everything. Daily driver, work ute and farm ute. The Maxxis coped with everything I gave them and I only staked one Maxxis tyre in the 4 years I had them fitted. I found that the Maxxis didn t get chewed out as much on the sharp rocks and branches. They pulled me out of many bogs wombat holes and over some very rocky ground.They also performed well on the highway. We get snow and ice with tempatures getting down to minus 12 in the cold months and as high as 45 in summer. I abused the 47 and hence the tyres also. For me in my situation I thought they were a great tyre and stood up well to the punishment I gave them. Would I get them again? Definetley.

Bad
Will be replacing them as soon as funds allow..I initially wanted the Bighorns but they weren t available at the time due to over demand here in Australia. There prices have since gone up, so that will lose them customers I suspect.

Definetly Not Bad!
Not many all terain tyres are available in 27 so my options were limited, good tread i ve been everywhere man! and no punctures yet, a few chunks out of corners as expected from extremely rough treatment and hard fast cornering on road.
I ve been driving all terain vehicles for a long time, these fit right up there with the rest of the best. Anybody experiencing bad punctures simply need to review their driving style.

45000km and still going strong
Have owned my 305/70r16 buckshots going on 4 years now, they are my daily drivers and also my weekenders and after 45000 km and 2 different trucks i have never had a puncture and they still have about 30% tread on them. I will definitely be sticking to maxxis in the future.

Hard wearing .extremely poor performance in the mud
First 20 percent of tread seemingly wore off in no time . Problem is they are so ineffective as a MT tyre that you need every bit of tread you can get . Supposed to be a 32/11.5/15 but actually measured less than a 31 . Tread has such a round edge that the width of the tread seems to only Make up less the 80 percent of the width of the tyre . Square edges and sharp tread blocks are what makes a good muddie these have neither . On the plus side after the initial rapid wear rate it seemed to get super hard and looked like lasting for ever . If you don t drive and dirt or mud these tyres are ok .
You get what you pay for people ! I have had 3 sets of mickey Thompson since and havnt looked back

never again
After less than 2000k s had 2 flat front tyres took them back and was told they had been punctured by box thorn(what a joke)after getting them repaired,went on a dirt road and the side wall got a 100mm cut the side walls are extremely thin and poorly made was a very poor choice of tyre on my behalf strongly suggest get something decent

Still going strong, no problems at all
As the author of the original review of these tyres, just a quick update and reiteration.
My Buckshots have now done about 30,000km,
I haven t had an ounce of trouble with them at all, no punctures, tears, pressure loss, nothing.
I ve found being a standard mud terrain pattern, they re also excellent at road holding on a wet bitumen road, I feel very confident driving on them.
I m not ridiculously hard on my tyres, but neither am I reserved in how I use them.
I m a farmer these days, my tyres get a hard time on my ute, whether carrying loads right up to their maximum rating, or tackling the extremely steep terrain on the property often loaded heavily with fencing equipment and tools. There re lots of unseen obstacles (rocks, logs etc) hidden in the long grass and I do hit them.
If unfortunately you ve been let down with your own set of these tyres, then I offer my condolences.
Perhaps you need tougher tyres for your driving style and/or the places you use them.
No tyre is indestructible.
To finish off, I ve just had a set of Maxxis Big Horns MT-764 M/Ts 225/75R16 10ply fitted to my other 4WD ute. There s nothing wrong with the Buckshots, but I needed more grip from the more aggressive tread pattern, cow poop is slippery. These are rated 80/20% off/on road. I won t be using them on the road much.
